I have a Windows XP professional 2002 SP3 model. BUT right before i found this I downloaded gimp 2.6 although it still didnt work so i uninstalled it, and i went back to "C:\Program files" but nothing was there. I have purged my computer of these files though and any they left behind. I have had Gimp 2.6 although it has never worked. Have had Gimpshop on my comp both the original and upgraded. Its all white and then it crashes i get the "GimPhoto has encountered a problem and needs to close ect." window. I only have one problem, when I start it up everythings fine until its past the loading screen then the tool window pops up.

My family doesn't have a lot of money so i cant afford the most high tech computers or super expensive software like most people so things like this are a blessing. Thanks thanks so much for all the hard work you put into things like this! I highly appreciate it. This way i create GimPad by myself to bring MDI like interface at GimPhoto. GIMP will always using windowed interface because GIMP depend on GTK+ that until now still NOT supporting MDI windowing interface. Your tablet isn't pressure sensitive because GIMP 2.4.3 error and GimPhoto 1.4.3 based on this version of GIMP (this will fixed at GimPhoto next version 1.4.5 using GIMP 2.4.5) Gimpad still can't saving windows position (this will fixed at GimPad next version 1.2) Some more information about your problems: GimPad will into much trouble if "Transients Windows" feature is ON (this a "Always on Top" feature that usually used by GIMP), so DISABLED it because GimPad that will take care "Always on Top feature". please check it under C:\Users\(Your_User_Name)\ģ. please check under C:\Documents and Settings\(Your_User_Name)\ There is old GIMP preferences that still exists on your computer (even uninstall GIMP will not remove this preferences) so we must remove it manually, follow this instructions: GimPhoto and GimPad CAN NOT be installed side-by-side with GIMP.Ģ. There is user preferences folder that will exist even you already uninstall it, this the main cause that your Gimpad and GimPhoto NOT working ok.įor your problems with GimPad/GimPhoto, there is 3 possibilities that cause the troubles:ġ. I already have GIMP 2.2 installed and it looks as usual after the installation of your two programs, may it be that they somehow collide with normal GIMP? Is it necessary to uninstall GIMP? I really don't know what is wrong.Īnd I have also a question concerning GimPhoto: is it compatible with all stuff (brushes, textures, plugins, whatever.) available for GIMP and does it have all its functions? I wouldn't like to replace GIMP with something not so well supported just to have a more Photoshop-like interface, which as you see I can't get working anyway.

Furthermore I can't exit GimPad so I have to kill it. The GimPad window doesn't seem to offer any features, there are only two small rolldown menus to change theme and with help (not much helpful though). But the GimPhoto windows don't get hosted on the GimPad one, they still stay separate as without GimPad. But when I run GimPad instead (to get the windows hosted on a large main window like in Photoshop) a large empty window of GimPad appears and it launches GimPhoto. I can run directly GimPhoto and it behaves and looks like GIMP. Thanks for your site here…I’ll be back for more! Cheers.I installed GimPhoto 1.4.3 and then GimPad 1.1. As I tried dragging it slowly this last time, I noticed that moving it and pausing ON TOP of the border between the Toolbox and tabs below it turned JUST that border a brighter, bold blue…and pow! Releasing it neatly docked-it inline again below the Toolbox where I like Tool Options to live. Dragging it back kept giving me a light-blue border over those menus, but dropping it would still leave it floating there.

I didn’t have a problem with docking the Toolbox, but the actual “Tool Options” dialog menu…I’d somehow floated it out from its home, inline, below the top-left Toolbox and bottom-left “Devices / Undo / Images” tabs and couldn’t figure out how to restore its inline position. I’ve found GIMP *extremely* capable, and doing nearly everything I could ask for from PS - the only stop to actual “everything” is my own learning curve and overcoming years of baked-in keyboard shortcuts and muscle memory, ha. Been using GIMP about half a year after 30 years in Photoshop starting in high school computer lab.
